You Helped Make a difference.

At RappCE, we believe education is a powerful tool for transforming lives and strengthening communities. Our non-profit adult education center has been dedicated to providing valuable learning experiences to the residents of Rappahannock County and beyond. From workforce training to lifelong learning classes, we worked to make education accessible to everyone.

Thank you for your support of our mission to provide residents of Rappahannock County and nearby areas with educational experiences that enhanced knowledge, employability, and quality of life with the goal of building and sustaining a stronger community.

Message from the RappCE Executive Director and
Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of Rapp Center for Education (RappCE) has begun an orderly winddown of the organization. (tap to see press release)  This decision follows more than a year of discussion, planning, and evaluation regarding the long-term sustainability of RappCE. The Board carefully considered the organization's operational realities before concluding that we should cease operations by the end of 2026.

For all of us who have been part of the RappCE story, this is difficult news. RappCE was founded to provide educational experiences that enhance knowledge, employability, and quality of life for residents of Rappahannock County and the surrounding region.

Over the past decade RappCE has served over 700 Workforce Training students who earned certificates in courses ranging from Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, and X-ray Technician to butchery and culinary skills. In parallel, RappCE engaged more than 900 Lifelong Learning students who followed their intellectual curiosity into areas ranging from history and geology, to fly fishing and the plays of William Shakespeare, all taught by volunteers.

We are deeply proud of what RappCE has accomplished!  Our Workforce Training students have earned credentials that opened doors to employment and career advancement. Community members have discovered new interests, developed new skills, and built meaningful connections through Lifelong Learning classes. Countless people have contributed their time, expertise, resources, and encouragement to help implement these opportunities.  RappCE has met its mission to provide varied educational opportunities to Rappahannock citizens. This demand has evolved, and other regional organizations have greater capacity to meet this shifting need.

Therefore, RappCE is working to place our programs and students into organizations better suited to serve a broader regional cohort.  Over the coming months, RappCE will focus on an orderly transition. We recognize that educational needs in our region remain significant. We also recognize that many organizations and individuals continue to share our commitment to expanding opportunities, strengthening the workforce, and improving quality of life in our communities. The Board has expressed its desire to see programs, partnerships, and resources continue where feasible through organizations positioned to carry that work forward.

There will be additional communications in the weeks ahead regarding timelines, student support, program completion, and organizational transition activities. Today we simply say “Thank you”: Thank you to every student who trusted us with your educational journey. Thank you to every instructor who shared your knowledge. Thank you to every volunteer who gave their time. Thank you to every donor, grantor, partner, and supporter who believes that educational opportunity matters, and thank you to the Board members, staff members, and community leaders who helped build and sustain RappCE throughout its history.

Organizations are measured not only by how long they exist, but also by the lives they touch. By that measure, RappCE has made a lasting difference. We are grateful you have been part of that work, and we look forward to ensuring that the transition ahead reflects the same spirit of service, stewardship, and commitment to community that has guided RappCE from the beginning.

With gratitude,
Jami Davis
