Limited Radiography Program

Course Description

This course is designed to prepare students or entry-level employment as an x-ray technician.  No pre-requisites are required but many Limited License Radiologic Technologists are also medical assistants and CNAs.  Students will learn the fundamentals of radiography, including positioning, radiation safety, medical terminology, and anatomy and physiology. Radiation safety and maintenance of equipment are also addressed. The course includes both virtual lecture and in-person lab instruction, which enables students to practice the skills they are learning in class, including performing x-rays.  In addition to acquiring knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to be a limited license radiologic technologist, students will receive test preparation to help them prepare to take the State of Virginia ARRT licensure examination. Radiologic technologists can expect to work in settings such as doctors offices, urgent care facilities, chiropractor’s offices, hospitals, and other medical facilities.  

Radiologic Technologists can expect to:

  • Set up and operate x-ray machine 
  • Explain procedures to patients 
  • Work closely with patients; many radiologic technologists are also certified medical assistants or CNAs and can expect to perform patient care activities.

Class Schedule:

February 6th In-person orientation from 11 am – 3 pm at our school (The Sperryville Schoolhouse)

Class will meet online every Saturday from February 6th – April 24th

Tuition, Fees and Program Requirements

Tuition for the Limited Radiologic Program is $900.  Need-based scholarships are available to qualified Rappahannock County residents.  Residents of surrounding counties may be eligible for financial assistance from special funds. RappCE will work with each qualified applicant to identify resources for financial support. 

Your tuition includes all classroom materials. Non-refundable application fee – $25. Exam Fees: at the conclusion of class, students will pay a $90 application fee to the state and once approved, are eligible to sit for the ARRT exam which costs $125.
