Course Description
This course is designed to prepare students to assist and support licensed pharmacists in providing health care and medications to patients. Pharmacy technicians can expect to perform many of the same duties as a pharmacist, however their work must be approved by a pharmacist before medication can be dispensed.
Pharmacy Technicians can expect to:
- Enter prescription orders
- Help maintain inventories
- Label and package prescriptions
- Review medication history for patients
- Assist with immunizations
- Compound sterile preparations

Tuition, Fees and Program Requirements
Tuition for the Pharmacy Technician program is $900. Need-based scholarships are available to qualified Rappahannock County residents. Residents of surrounding counties may be eligible for financial assistance from special funds. RappCE will work with each qualified applicant to identify resources for financial support.
Your tuition includes all classroom materials including a textbook that you may keep after the conclusion of the class. Non-refundable application fee – $25. Exam Fees: Students have a choice between two different certification exams. The PTCB exam fee is $129 and ExCPT (NHA exam) fee is $117. Exam fees are not included as a part of your tuition.
